A Productive Weekend! - Also: Stats of the Month - June 2013

 Well, mailwise at least... :)

I sent one postcard to an old family friend who will have surgery in a week,

another postcard to my goddaughter (I had already sent her mother a letter on Thursday - of course I don't have a picture of that one...)

A letter to Michelle in Idadho,

Oh, here are the stamps I used so far :) I really really like the one with the elk and the lighthouse one is great as always.

A postcard to a friend, I haven't heard from her in a bit so I basically said hi and asked her to call me.

A letter to Yana in Utah

and a letter to a penpal here in Germany,

and lastly, a letter to Yanill in Florida - I will send that one out on Tuesday, as soon as partners are assigned in a swap-bot swap.

How have you been this weekend? Have you been productive?

Oh, and also, it's the end of June! So here are my stats of this month! :)

I finally received more mail again! I had 22 incoming letters, 3 incoming postcards and 2 incoming packages - yay! I haven't been to my PO-Box since Thursday, so I might even have gotten more :)

I sent out 24 letters and 9 postcards (counting the ones I finished this weekend) as well as 3 packages.

I spent a total of 26,33 € on postage, so on average 0,73 € per mailed item.

How much mail did you receive and send this month?

Oh, and one last thing: I bet you have already read elsewhere about this whole bloglovin' thing? Good, then I don't have to write this down here...

All the best for you!

Stats of the Months - March, April and May 2013

So I finally got around to make another stats - post - with being away over the end of the months it wasn't easy.

The last months mail was reeeeaaaally slow! Seriously. Looking back to May of last year, I got and sent three times as much mail in comparison. Well, but at least that means I'm able to catch up, right? But still - it feels a bit strange to not have a stash of letters to reply to.

So let's see the different months...

In March, I received one postcard and 13 letters and sent 33 postcards (yes, that was Costa Rica...), eleven letters and two packages. I don't remember how much I spent on postage in Costa Rica, but in Germany it was 19,22 €.

In April, I received eight postcards, ten letters and one package. I sent four postcards, eleven letters again and two packages. I spent 14,02 € on postage that month.

In May, I received four postcards and nine letters, having sent out eleven postcards, 18 letters and one package. I spent 22,12 €.

You can see most of my incoming mail on this picture - the top left is mail from March, the top right mail from April and the bottom is mail from May. Looking at it now, there is ony little variety in origins - most are from the USA, Germany or the UK, with the occasional Philippines, Sri Lanka, Argentina or Togo - I even got a letter from Russia in May and a few postcards from Italy, but I think that's about it.
How have your mail days been? I hope your mailbox is not starving :)

Caddi

Stats of the Month - February 2013

How have you been doing? I'm (as always...) a bit in a hurry. Somehow I never seem to have too much time. Do you feel the same about your life?

Well, February is already over! Did you participate in the Lettermo? And if so, did you accomplish sending a piece of mail every day? I did not participate, but I did manage to send more mail than the last month! So it was a good mail month for me. So let's see the numbers...

I sent out 18 letters, four postcards and one package, which adds up to a total of 23 pieces of mail. Quite a few of these letters were sent inside Germany, but the destinations also included Finland, USA, Sri Lanka and Luxembourg. I spent an amount of 21,88 Euros on postage this month, so an average of 0,95 € per sent item. If you don't count the package I sent to Luxembourg, that would be only 0,66 € per sent item.

I received eleven letters, two packages and one postcard, which totals up to 14 pieces of mail received. But - actually I haven't been to my PO Box in almost a week, so I guess I'll have some more mail waiting for me. I know a friend sent me a letter, and Jennifer from the UK as well as Laura - so I'll have more mail to answer soon. I'll go check my PO Box tomorrow.

The last package I got was from my mother - she sent me some leftover-fabrics she won't use any longer, so that I can sew more. I love them! She also included a postcard, tea and lots of other stuff.
Can you see the drops at the bottom? Whenever I see them I have to think of the advertisement for the brand (so I guess it worked quite good...) - do they have the same advertisement-style in your language? Or do you not know them at all?

Anyway, how was your month mailwise?

Caddi

Stats of the Month - January

Yes, I'm late, but on the other hand - January was a slow month mailwise and a quite busy with classes and exams. Luckily I only have one exam left now, so I hope I'll be able to breathe a bit more the next weeks. Still, I don't have much time right now, so this is going to be a short post.

In January, I received 9 letters, 3 postcards and 4 bigger letters / small packages.
I sent 12 letters, 6 postcards and one small package. I spent 16,26 € (the numbers have been quite odd due to the postage increase for letters in Germany from 0,55 € to 0,58 €).

Apart from not sending much mail and studying, I'm also working, getting immunization shots and looking for a new apartment, yet that we have to move in either March or April. Has your life been busy as well lately?

All the best and take care!

Stats of the Month - December and Stats of the Year - 2012

Soooo - who of you sent more mail than they received last year? I just counted the numbers and I did :)

But let's first talk about the mail of December. A bit late, but hey - I didn't get my mail from late December / early January until the day before yesterday :)
So, to keep it short, in December I received 23 letters, 2 postcards and 2 parcels and sent 15 letters and two packages. I spent 25,85 € on postage, which makes an average of 1,52 €. More than usually.

In the year of 2012 - starting in February, I didn't keep track of my mail earlier - a total of 544 items of mail went through my hands - counting both incomings and outgoings. Quite a lot! - at least for me, I don't know how much mail you handle ;-)

I sent a bit more than I received - 28 items more to be exact.

The bare numbers:
In 2012, I received 93 postcards, 157 letters and 8 packages.
In 2012, I sent 105 postcards, 174 letters and 7 packages. (Not counting the postcards / letters I sent from the USA - I didn't write the numbers down. I think we can safely say that that would be 2 more letters and around at least 20 more postcards I sent home to my boyfriend and family.)
In 2012, I spent 204,95 € on postage (again, not counting the money I spent on stamps while not being in Germany (France, Turkey, USA, Canada), which probably will add up to another 30 - 40 € at least...). It could have been worse surely.

And this is most of the mail I received in 2012:

So.... tell me: How do you store your letters from past years? And how high is the amount of mail you handle per year? And do you know how much you spend on postage yearly - or would you rather not know at all? ;-)

Alles Liebe,
Caddi

Stats of the Month - November

Hello there!

Just in time on December 1st, here are my Stats of the Month!

In the past month I received (if I counted correctly...) 13 letters, 2 postcards and one small package, so a total of 16 snail mail items. Not too much, but given that probably some of my letters from last month took quite some time to arrive to Kenya or Uganda.... It's also quite good because that way I'm not that much behind with sending letters. Right now I only have two letters waiting for a response, and I just got them on thursday, so no need to hurry yet :) Yesterday we got notice that a package is waiting for us and I'll pick it up on Monday, there might be another Advent Calendar for my boyfriend and me - his mother usually sends them out to all her kids (and their partners). Lucky us.

I sent 14 letters, 4 postcards and 4 small packages, so a total of 22 snail mail items. The average amount of money spent on postage was a bit higher than normal - I spent 26,10 € on postage to send all these out. Of the sent items ten mailings were sent within Germany, quite a lot actually! I suddenly have three German penpals, one of whom writes quite frequently and am also communicating with my mother over mail more than before, so it all adds up.

How was your month? Do you plan on sending Christmas cards this December?

Alles Liebe,
Caddi

Stats of the Month - October

October was a month of catching up for me - so while I wrote and sent letters to almost all of my penpals, I received only very few letters.

Let's have a look at the numbers:

I sent 3 postcards and 30 letters, so a total number of 33 mailings that left my hands to travel all over the world. The countries I sent to include among others Turkey, the Philippines, Mexico, Germany, Sri Lanca, Kenya, UK, Uganda and the obvious USA. I spent 26,50 € on postage, so an average 0,80 € per mailing.

Like I already said, I received only a few letters the last month - I received 5 postcards (except for the one from Penny they were all from family members - if you count my goddaughter as a family member :)) and 6 letters (if you count the two giveaways I won as letters). Only three of these letters were penpal letters.

Here's a picture of the incoming mail last month, I appreciated everything that came in (I especially like the postcard my mother sent me), but I have to say - I miss having a full mailbox :( Well, probably it will be flooded soon enough, right?

How was your month mailwise?

Stats of the Month - June (and incoming)

June is over!

That means: No more classes! Yay!
But it also means: Exams start tomorrow! :(

So, just a quick post on the Stats of the Month and I'll probably also show bits of the mail I received over the weekend (minues yesterday, as I haven't checked my PO Box).

In June, I
- sent 26 letters
- sent 5 postcards
- received 23 letters
- received 5 postcards.
So, almost even there! Well, but still, I have 7 letters to reply to...

Here's the mail picture! A few bits are missing, please don't ask me in which of my bags they are...
Incoming Mail of June
And the graph of this month...
Stats of the Month - June

I also decided to do a little graph to show you where my mail comes from - so as you can see, a very high percentage is coming from the USA. But I'm glad to also have those bits of Kenia, Uganda, Argentina and the Philippines for example - it's a great thing to have a variety of mail in your mailbox :) Where does your mail come from?
The picture is a bit big, but this way at least you can read everything...

So, when I came home from Berlin yesterday, I had a few more letters to read...

From Michelle in the USA

From Anna in the USA. You should definitely check out her blog at http://www.thelettering.com/, she sends awesome mail! As you can see :) I love love love the owl stickers and her envelope is just AWESOME. As I haven't been home the last days so my boyfriend picked up my mail at my PO Box and told me on the phone "Oh you got an awesome letter from someone in the USA, the envelope looks like it is composed of many old letters and it looks really great!" I agree. :)

Mail from Sri Lanka! Hooray for airmail envelopes!

A letter from Almanté in Lithuania who send some stamps along. Thank you so much!

And a letter all the way from Kenya.

As I said, yay for pen pals who send stamps along! The one with the hippo and the turtle is SO cute, don't you think?

Well, my dears, I'm off to study. I have to learn waste and water law. I'm absolutely not looking forward to the exam tomorrow. BUT I'm so looking forward to the 26th of July - as some of you already know, I'll be spending a few weeks in the USA and I probably will add a few extra days to go and see the Niagara Falls - they're not quite as awesome as the Igazu Falls (which I had dreamt of visiting this year), but they're also huge waterfalls :) Anyone having similar plans for early September?

Take care and
alles Liebe,
Caddi

Most of the mail I received in May

Stats of the Month - May 2012

Since I started this blog in February, the graph up there should look like this:
Stats - February 2012 - May 2012

So, as you can see, I do send more than I receive actually... But oh well. Isn't it always like this?
How was your mail month? How many pieces of "good mail" did you get?
