Monday's mail

The new week just started! What are you up to this week? I will mostly have to focus on university and studying :( I hope you are having more interesting things to look forward to :)

Let me show you the outgoing mail of these days!I tried to be a bit more creative with my envelopes and used my new sewing machine which I got for my birthday :) The first envelope was... well, not so pretty in my opinion. Somehow the colours don't match and it's not really bright. I sent it anyway, I won't waste paper that way :)

A letter to one of my German penpals. That's the envelope I didn't like, but I told her that it was the first try and I hope she won't mind :)

A letter going out to Laura. I liked this envelope way better - but who doesn't like craft paper, right?

Letters going out to Jennifer in the UK and Caroline in Germany. (More sewing done here :) )

A postcard (which she'll love) going out to my mother.

A letter going out to Togo and a postcard of a snowy beach going out to Australia.

New stamps! Whenever I go to the post office I end up spending maybe 30 € there... But I really liked the castle stamps!

Lastly, this is a letter waiting to go out to Stephanie... As soon as I'm sure the address is still correct :)

Did you ever try to sew something on your envelopes? How did it turn out?

Alles Liebe,
Caddi

4 things sunday # 11

This is a little challenge I'm doing each week. Every Sunday I decide on 4 simple little goals I'd like to achieve in the coming week. I'm not talking about graduating university or buying a house. These are little challenges, challenges I really can accomplish and which will help me to make my life just a tad more organized. Do you want to take part as well?

Here are my 4 things for this week:

* Eat salad at least twice.
* Write and send at least four more letters.
* Organize my desk.
* Sew a bit.

How did I do with the last 4 things?

* Book our flights for our holiday in March. *Check!*
* Get the mail I received while being away from the friend who picked it up for me. *Check!* He had 12 letters for me - yay!
* Send out at least four letters. *Check!* I sent 7 letters last week ( 3 x Germany, Italy, Sri Lanka, USA and the UK) and I have 3 more ready to be sent right now (Germany, Togo, USA) - Steph, if you're reading this: Is your address still the same this semester?
* Continue working on the atomic law paper. *Check!* Guess what I'm doing right now?

What are your goals for next week? Leave a comment or write a post on your own blog and leave a link, I'd love to know!

Stats of the Month - December and Stats of the Year - 2012

Soooo - who of you sent more mail than they received last year? I just counted the numbers and I did :)

But let's first talk about the mail of December. A bit late, but hey - I didn't get my mail from late December / early January until the day before yesterday :)
So, to keep it short, in December I received 23 letters, 2 postcards and 2 parcels and sent 15 letters and two packages. I spent 25,85 € on postage, which makes an average of 1,52 €. More than usually.

In the year of 2012 - starting in February, I didn't keep track of my mail earlier - a total of 544 items of mail went through my hands - counting both incomings and outgoings. Quite a lot! - at least for me, I don't know how much mail you handle ;-)

I sent a bit more than I received - 28 items more to be exact.

The bare numbers:
In 2012, I received 93 postcards, 157 letters and 8 packages.
In 2012, I sent 105 postcards, 174 letters and 7 packages. (Not counting the postcards / letters I sent from the USA - I didn't write the numbers down. I think we can safely say that that would be 2 more letters and around at least 20 more postcards I sent home to my boyfriend and family.)
In 2012, I spent 204,95 € on postage (again, not counting the money I spent on stamps while not being in Germany (France, Turkey, USA, Canada), which probably will add up to another 30 - 40 € at least...). It could have been worse surely.

And this is most of the mail I received in 2012:

So.... tell me: How do you store your letters from past years? And how high is the amount of mail you handle per year? And do you know how much you spend on postage yearly - or would you rather not know at all? ;-)

Caddi

A happy new year everybody! I hope 2013 started off awesome for you and will continue like that :)

I have gotten back from skiing a few days back and am still working on getting used to being home again - maybe a few goals will help me settling back in :)

This is a little challenge I'm doing each week. Every Sunday I decide on 4 simple little goals I'd like to achieve in the coming week. I'm not talking about graduating university or buying a house. How did I do with the last 4 things?

* Finally finish my paper for Tuesday. *Check!*
* Get the last Christmas presents and wrap them all. *Check!*
* Gather everything I need to take to Berlin and skiing for the weeks until January 6th. *Check!*
* Start reading a new book. *I did read at least four books over the holidays - I just love having time to read!*
