Fast and pretty mail from Russia!

On Friday I got a letter from Maria in Russia - I had written her in early spring and had asked if spring already arrived in Russia by the time she got the letter, but it travelled a long time, so now that she responded, she already told me about the late summer and the early fall. She expressed the fear that her letter might take very long to arrive as well, and included a tea to warm up while reading her letter in November, but this time the letter was really fast! The postage stamps have the date of September 12th, and I got it on September 20th, so only around a week for a letter from Russia! I won't complain about that though :)

The letter was really pretty, it featured many stamps - among them, this beauty! Isn't it lovely? It was issued almost ten years ago, so I guess I'm lucky that I got to see it :) Thanks for choosing such great stamps Maria, I love them! Keep doing so ;-)

Another detail of the letter: This airmail sticker, which says "Luftpost" ("airmail" in German) - I love it!

Did you receive any outstanding mail in the last time? And why was it outstanding?

Alles Liebe,
Caddi

  1. I used to write to someone in Russia in my teens and I'm positive that mail arrived in a decent amount of time. I wrote the address in English at that time now. So since joining postcrossing I'm amazed that mail can take months to arrive and its slightly better when written in Russain. Its mind boggling.

At least you received some great mail :)

    1. Hm, that's strange that now it takes longer than when you were younger!

Did you receive great mail lately?

  2. I had pretty bad experiences with Russian post, unfortunately. That's why I don't have any friends there anymore, what's sad. I have a couple of the from Belarus and Lithuania, though. Lovely stamps! :)

    1. Yes, that's a sad reason :( I recently had an experience with an Italian pal though, that three of our letters got lost. I just hope my last recent reply arrived safely.
I especially love the stamp with the ladies!

  3. I haven't any penpal from Russia. But my experience with Postcrossing is that postcards from/to Russia usually take a month to arrive. Most of my expired postcards were sent to Russia. How annoying for Russian people!

The envelope you received is gorgeous!

    1. Yes, that's the reason I was surprised as well! When I was still active on Postcrossing the cards to and from Russia took ages to arrive. It's quite a bad feeling to live in a country with unreliable mail service I believe.

The envelope is lovely, isn't it?

I`m happy that you loved the envelope. The stamp is one of my favorites!
